What is the Internet Archive and How to Use It? On the internet, there are millions of sites with various functions.

Starting from social media sites like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, to sites containing tutorials like TribunNEW.
However, do you know what a site called the Internet Archive is? If not, then you are reading the right article.

Because in this TribunNEW article, I will review in full about the Internet Archive, from its understanding to the features on this site.

What is an Internet Archive?

The Internet Archive is a digital library site with millions of free books, movies, software, photos, pictures and music.
The site was founded by Brewster Kahle in May 1996 in San Francisco, California.

Then it was launched in 2001.
All content on this site is legal content, from books to pictures and music.
These contents are usually uploaded by the original owner.
The slogan of the Internet Archive is “Universal access to all knowledge”.
The Internet Archive currently has 200 employees and was ranked as the 159th most popular site in the world according to Alexa in April 2014.

Fitur Internet Archive

Most of the content on the Internet Archive is collected automatically by web crawlers .
But not only that, the Internet Archive also allows registered users to upload digital materials to their data clusters.
If you are interested in uploading your digital material, then you must register first at archive.org
Some digital materials you can upload include:

  • Pictures and photos;
  • Music, podcasts and other audio files;
  • Text (can be Docs, PDFs, and the like);
  • Video;
  • And others.

Make sure all digital materials you upload are legal digital materials and your own.
Don’t upload other people’s photos, videos , movies or music.

If detected by the Internet Archive system, your account will be automatically banned immediately .

Wayback Machine

Wayback Machine is one of the features in the Internet Archive, the function of this feature is to archive web pages and blogs on the internet.
If you have visited a site but after several years the site is not there, you can use the Wayback Machine to still be able to visit the site that has disappeared.
Internet Archive’s Web Crawler will automatically save web pages and blogs on the internet to be archived on the Wayback Machine.

If you are a blog and site owner, you can also save your blog and site pages to the Wayback Machine.
The method is very easy,

visit web.archive.org/save then enter the address of your site or blog belonging to TribunNEW Buddy into the column provided, then click the SAVE PAGE button .
The site or blog page will then be stored in the Wayback Machine forever.

So, even if your site or blog no longer exists because it was deleted or something else, you can still open it through the Wayback Machine.
You can also use the Wayback Machine to visit popular sites with their old-school look.
For example, you can visit the Facebook site that is still using its look in 2009.
Or, you can also visit the tribunnew.site site to find out how this site will look in 2018.
You just enter the web address that you want to see the old school display, then choose what year you want.
Wayback Machine will then display the site display according to the date, month and year you selected.
